The Caffeine Hit

Thanks LSB for the "Coffee" prompt for Quote Quest #33. The quote really 'hit' the spot.

"A morning coffee is my favorite way of starting the day,
settling the nerves so that they don't later fray!"

I have three short anecdotes to share.

Back in 1981 I was on my first business trip to America. An English colleague was in Boston at the same time and we caught up over morning tea. I ordered coffee and got a cup poured from the jug of brew that had been stewing on the warmer for hours (yuck), and my friend ordered tea. Now this was when tea bags were coming into vogue and they were new to my English friend - he proceeded to tear open the tea bag and tip the tea leaves into his cup. So I explained that one dangles the tea bag in the hot water. So as instructed, having added the hot water, he then proceeded to dangle the sugar sachet in his cup.

On my way across country, I was flying TWA, the hostie came around with the drinks trolley. I asked her for some of her best TWA tea. She slapped my face. What is it with Americans and their dislike of tea? (A mate explained my mistake to me later).

Back in Melbourne, there was a Lady Of Pleasure I visited regularly about 10 years ago. She had told me that a good coffee peaked her sexual arousal (the only person I know of with that reaction).
