I was reading a past post of MrsFever's about "Home", that prompted me about other innocuous or pet names or phrases we use. There are some that have become so commonly used with sexual meanings, that they are no longer innocuous, like 'Pussy', 'Kitty' or 'Dining at the Y'. Then of course there are the thousands of euphemism used for sexual organs and acts, that don't have the 'pet name' feeling to them.
I was a little surprised when I found myself asking a LOP, "I think I should 'say hello to the girls'" (kissing her labia - this is known as the 'Australian Kiss' - I do live in the Land Down Under after all)!

that's a very compelling picture! And it does draw me in ...
ReplyDeleteThank you.
I don't think that is limited to the Land Down Under, one of my favorite ways to say hello.
ReplyDelete'Dining at the Y'... dear Lord, I haven't heard that one in ages, we said that in the '60s. Love it! And, I love this photo.
I didn't even know of the expression myself until I was researching this post. It obviously goes back to post 1981 when "Men At Work" released their famous song "Down Under", made famous by the Australia II yachting team when they won the America's cup. I guess it is also a nod to that other famous Aussie rock band "Kiss".
DeleteIt is said that when an Aussie was asked what cunnilingus was, the reply was "It's like French Kissing, but Down Under".
I have learned something new today... 'Dining at the Y' and 'Australian kiss' ;)

Glad to be contributing to your education Marie. Those terms are probably more a male thing. Conversely, I received a comment from Leah, saying she "PMSL" - took me a while to figure that one out - a female thing I expect.
Delete'Dining At The Y' is often abbreviated to DATY. Thus my Nighthood post-nominal "DOM" (Member of the Most Ancient Order of DATY Old Men)!
PMSL - a medical condition, 'Ridens incontinence'
